The North East Emerging Artist Award, established in 2021, supports artists in or from the North East across a wide range of creative disciplines. The award provides emerging artists with the opportunity to develop and showcase site-specific contemporary work within the historic setting of Seaton Delaval Hall.
My Shortlist Proposal: Fragments of Celebration
This proposal reimagines the grandeur of Baroque ceiling paintings as a contemporary, site-specific installation for Seaton Delaval Hall. Inspired by Antonio Pellegrini's The Fall of Phaeton at Castle Howard, the work replaces a single painted ceiling with multiple canvases arranged in a theatrical, collage-like composition. At its centre, Sir Francis Blake Delaval falls dramatically through the sky, surrounded by scenes of family, celebration and performance that reference the Delavals' playful and theatrical history. Through its fragmented installation, the work invites viewers into an immersive experience that explores memory, spectacle and storytelling.
A Treasury Of Tyneside Tales : The Great North Museum, Hancock
Moving Parts Arts
Commissioned by Moving Parts Arts, this visual evaluation scroll documents the journey and impact of A Treasury of Tyneside Tales, a community project inspired by local folklore from the Great North Museum's library and archive. The hand-painted scroll mirrors the crankie theatre scrolls created by participants throughout the workshops, using the same storytelling format to reflect the project's collective experience.Drawing together moments from workshops, conversations and the final exhibition, the scroll celebrates the creativity of young people and elders from across Tyneside while capturing the connections formed through shared storytelling. Presented at the project's closing exhibition, the work offered participants a visual reflection of their contributions and the lasting memories created throughout the programme.

Letter to My Roots (2023), Building Blocks (2023): Tester Pictures
My work reflects my experience as a first-generation migrant from the Philippines to the UK. Using letters to my parents and symbolic imagery like a brick path, I explore adapting to British society while reconnecting with my Filipino roots, highlighting cultural identity and the universal search for belonging.
