A Treasury of Tyneside Tales

A Treasury of Tyneside Tales is a collaborative storytelling project produced by Moving Parts Arts, bringing together intergenerational participants from across Tyneside to create handmade Crankies inspired by memories of local places.

As part of the project, I worked as an Assistant Artist and workshop facilitator, supporting participants through creative sessions where they explored storytelling, drawing, and scroll-making to develop their own Crankie narratives based on personal memories and local folklore.

The project reimagines the traditional 19th-century Crankie storytelling device, an illustrated scroll wound through a viewing box, through contemporary community voices.

Weekly Enrichment Workshops at Gateshead College: Pop Up Shop Club

The Pop Up Shop is an enrichment club I founded during the 2024–25 academic year. Responding to a lack of diversity in market products, I created a space where students could develop craft-based products through weekly workshops. Each session introduced a new creative skill focused on commercial art and product design.

The club operates under the department’s pop-up shop brand G-Collective, where student-made products are sold at pop-up events throughout the academic year. This gives students hands-on experience in creative entrepreneurship and selling their work.

Casual Teaching at Gateshead College: Project Choice Art

Project Choice is the dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) department at Gateshead College, providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner is empowered to thrive. During my time as a casual teacher, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Project Choice Art class.

Each week, I looked forward to engaging and guiding these students through creative projects. This allowed them to express themselves, build confidence, and develop their artistic skills. Ending the acedemic year with a Project Choice Art Exhibtion.
